Student Accommodation

Langley Flying School recognizes that accommodations for international students and for Canadian students out of town is an important factor in choosing a flight school. There are a host of accommodations available to students in the Lower Mainland ranging in style, comfort, and price.

Arriving in Langley, B. C.

When you arrive at either Vancouver International Airport or Abbotsford International Airport, our staff will provide airport and transportation service to your temporary accommodation at the local Travelodge or the Best Western (the cost of this is approximately $150). This accommodation will be available to you for two weeks. Once we receive confirmation of your flight, and arrival date as well as any deposits or prepayment for the lodging, we will book a room for you to ensure that you have a place to stay when you arrive. Once you are settled in, our staff will assist you in your search for more permanent accommodations provided in the area.

The weekly rate (as of December 14, 2010) at Travelodge is approximately $439.81 for a room with cooking facilities, (this includes taxes). This must be prepaid for the two week stay with a $250 security deposition that will be returned at the end of your stay, provided no liabilities are incurred. Travelodge is a 5-minute walking distance from Langley Flying School.

The weekly rate (as of December 14, 2010) at Best Western is approximately $645 (this includes taxes). Best Western has a restaurant an is a 15-minute walking distance from Langley Flying School.

More Permanent Housing Options

In the Lower Mainland there are many viable options for housing. Costs range from as little as $600 per month to several thousand dollars per month depending on the the size and privileges provided in the package. Here is a list of some of the options available:

Please recognize that the locations of these accommodations will vary. It may be necessary to use either public transit or to purchase a vehicle to drive to Langley Flying School if your accommodations are not within walking distance.

Transportation

Students that are planning to use public transport are advised to seek accomodation within walking distance of the Translink #502 (Aldergrove) Bus, which travels the length of the Fraser Highway from Central Surrey to Langley Airport. The #502 also provides direct public transportation to downtown Vancouver via the Skytrain. The #502 drops-off and picks-up students at the Langley Airport every 30 minutes (passing approximately 10 minutes after, and 20 minutes before the hour). It is then a 5 minute walk to Langley Flying School.

Food Costs

An informal survey of our current international students (January 1, 2015) indicates the costs of food (self-preparation) is approximately $300 to $400 per month.

Recreational Facilities

Within a 7-minutes walking distance from the residence are three restaurants; within a 15-minutes walk is a shopping centre, a bank, a drug store, two grocery store, post office, seven more restaurants, a fancy coffee shop, and a public recreational center that includes an indoor wave pool.
